Last-Minute Upgrade with Pros and Cons

Pros: I can't say anything about this apartment because the rental company’s owner upgraded us to a different, newer apartment. The new apartment was great — all the furniture was new, and everything was clean. We really enjoyed our stay. Also, we had everything we needed to cook our own meals.

Cons: I tried to contact the owner before my arrival but didn’t get any response, which made me quite stressed — I wasn’t sure if they would reply when we arrived. Usually, owners reach out to guests well in advance, so I didn’t like that part at all. About an hour before our arrival, the company owner finally called and informed us that we were being upgraded to a different apartment. Although that part was a bit nerve-wracking, it was a nice gesture on his part. However, what I didn’t like was that because of the last-minute change, we had to go to a different location. It took us a couple of hours to get there, so we ended up checking in around 7 p.m. — not as we had expected. I had originally planned our visit based on the location of the first apartment, which was supposed to be close to a metro station — very convenient in Athens. But the upgraded apartment was much farther from the metro, and public transportation in Athens doesn't follow a reliable schedule. One last suggestion for the upgraded apartment: the pillow was uncomfortable and the Wi-Fi router didn’t work at all — these could definitely be improved.
