The unit was as lovely as it was shown to be...very comfy, homey, yet the feel of a new country.
Pros: The location was great. ..close to a relatively busy street ( but not noisy) which had numerous stores, restaurants, coffee shops, groceries stores, etc. ...it had a safe, community feel...it was busy enough and well lit enough that one felt very safe even when walking relatively late.. The people who worked in the restaurants and stores ( often their own) were very friendly and helpful. Very easy going pleasant community to come back to after a long day running around downtown Athens. There is a park at then end of the street..walk through it , then walk 5 more short blocks and you are at another main street (Lief.Eth. Antista..) that has even more lovely restaurants and shops!
Cons: The least pleasant thing was my arrival. I did NOT get any directions ahead of time about a lock box with a key into the main building outside the apartment, how to use a code to it, then which floor to go to, how to press a button on the wall on each floor to give you 1 minute of light, then to find another lock box containing another key to the apartment itself outside the room, use the code, when entering the apartment...no lights until you put the square key fob into a holder on the wall...then how to press a button in a major electric box area to turn on the hot water heater. Apparently all this was sent to my phone sometime after I had left for the airport and had started my journey there. This information should have been given at the time of booking or at least 48 hours in advance of arrival to a different country...I had changed my SIM card at the airport, etc, had no access to my email on my phone.. Thank goodness I arrived mid afternoon or I would have been totally at a loss of what to do to get in. A very wonderful tenant was doing repairs in the building, understood the format, helped me to access the information which had come late to my phone, and helped me in all aspects to get in and settled. His assistance made thee world of difference. That was really the only thing unpleasant about it all.Once in and settled , everything was lovely. All those instructions should be made simpler, or at least sent to the traveler much earlier before their departure.
